Not all who wonder

by Mike Taylor

I am not lost here
Not lost between E6 and N1
Not lost between the winding canals of Camden and the roaring Thames at the Southbank
Not trying to find myself on the pages of a book written by a city that moves faster than progress.
I am a street map
An airport
Arms unfolded to direct hope down a runway.
Trail guide to scale mount dignity
I am not asking for handouts, I am passing batons from 400 meter dashes of salty tears and leaning back to drink the laughter that translates every language into the same harmony.
This city is a melody I sing like uncaged birds welcoming a sunrise where flocks of children migrate whenever the seasons change.
I’m not lost on Brick Lane where the calls of hosts draw me into the delectable delights of the curry houses
You are not lost
Your home address is a travel guide of how far you’ve come
Your kitchen is all the bars where the owner knows you by name, and your bedroom is whoever’s smile you can rest in.
You are not lost
Not here
